Inferring

Last week, the second graders were practicing the reading strategy of 'Inferring'.  This strategy is often referred to as the act of 'reading between the lines'.  We discovered that sometimes the author doesn't answer all our questions and when this happens, we must infer.

We started this weeks inferring activities by searching through people's bags.  By using the clues of the objects in the bag, we discussed what that object said about that person.

The next day, we had an 'inference gallery' where the students had to walk around, look at 14 different pictures and write down what they thought was happening in the picture.  We had a lot of fun!
